Hershey's decision for India being it's primary target as they internationally expand has made them very successful. The retail sales have been predicted to increase by 16% or about 320 million dollars since 2011 meaning sale would be above 2.3 billion. The article mentions that though the percentage of Hershey's part in India's confessionary rate is high, Ferrero though small (2%) still poses as a potential competitive threat to Hershey. Ferrero it seems has made an interest in india as they have purchased a plant of 100 kilometers in Pune. It seems that Hershey is on the track to success and this would impact the Ferrero company since gaining global recognition allows more products to be sold worldwide whilst gaining more profit for the company.

The Forbes article highlight the new 300 million dollar factory that has just been unveiled which has the state of the art new technology that will allow Hershey kisses to be produced 24 hours a day. While automation happens in the new factory 700 of 4800 pennsylvanian employees will be trained to run the new factory. Though it would be cheaper to produce chocolate in other countries the access to the ingredient of fresh milk holds value to Hershey so it would be best to stay within the states. They also believe in short commutes for the product's journey to the retailers too. Employing this new technology allows them to use a propriety system when candy season comes along so they know how much of each product retailers should receive. Hershey having this in their backpocket proves to a problem to Ferrero because at the same time it means that Ferrero's technology isn't being updated and the they might begin to lose profit without the use of the propriety system since they could be saving millions if not billions

Hershey has recently released a new line of chocolates based on the plans from the beginning of 2012 to use only 100% certified chocolate meaning sourcing farmers that have met the sustainable standards. Their newly launched line named "Bliss" came from the target inspiration "Raise the Bar, Hershey Coalition"  in an effort to highlight the suppliers of Hershey's allegedly poor working conditions of cocoa farmers. Hershey plans to use 100% certified cocoa by 2020. This would affect the Ferrero company because customers might purchase the Hershey Bliss chocolate as they know it support the environment and helps the cocoa farmers thus leaving the Ferrero company's profit to possibly decrease compared to Hershey. The Hershey company would also be advertised as a rainforest alliance partnership company meaning more positive media and thus raising sales as it is a world known organization.

In this article it speaks about the French senate approving the Nutella Tax which will result in quadrupling the tax on palm oil the current tax is 100 euros but after the tax it would be calculated to be around 400 euros. The complains and protests mainly come from palm oil companies in places like Malaysia and the Ivory Coast. The aim for this approved tax is to decrease the consumption amount of the saturated fat in found in Nutella from the palm oil. Though it has been approved by the French senate it still has to be voted on by the senate and the lower house. The impact this has on the company itself would only be a minor threat as Nutella is world famous, is used almost everyday in children's breakfasts and has many loyal users. The issues that may arise is that customers might question the quality and prices however as the article states only about 6 cents would be added to the cost of one kilogram of Nutella. The head of the french division of Nutella has stated in a parisian newspapers that they would not modify the Nutella recipe leading to the idea that this would not affect them.

This article relates to the political aspect of PEST because it speaks about the consumer protection in the sense of sourcing for the best ingredients, ensuring product safety and advertising the food nutrition that is in the Ferrero products. The article notes that eggs are free range and the sugar is non-gm meaning the ingredients aren't genetically moditfied. The company shows a concern on the consumer health thus showing that they are a responsible business. With the new change the consumers will be willing to purchase the product and in turn the profits in the company would increased.

Ferrero has seem to taken a more marketed approach to their company marketing their products mainly to children but at the same time marketing the nutritional value it has (this information aimed at the parents). According to their website their company value is that:
"Our constant attention towards consumers’ needs is the foundation of our company policy, inspired by maximum transparency and excellence in quality.

Our loyalty towards consumers and the trust they put in our products with their everyday purchases are at the core of the long-lasting relation that we enjoy with them."
Though the Nutella company is more on a marketing approach they are also product oriented as Mr.Ferrero said that the company has a "wealth of resources" to use. Being in the chocolate industry they have revolutionized the use of chocolate and hazelnut in their famous Nutella spread to being use for children's breakfast. They market the brand name depending on the customer group which is children.
